East Carolina vs. Charlotte updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the East Carolina vs. Charlotte football game
The Charlotte 49ers and the East Carolina Pirates will face off in an American Athletic clash at 6:00 p.m. ET on October 21st at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Charlotte is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Saturday was a slow day for Charlotte as the team failed to score. They received a tough blow as they fell 14-0 to Navy. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Charlotte couldn't answer the 14 points Navy scored afterwards.
Meanwhile, East Carolina gave up the first points and the most points on Thursday. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of a 31-10 punch to the gut against SMU. East Carolina has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, East Carolina had strong showings from Mason Garcia, who rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown, and Chase Sowell, who picked up 120 receiving yards.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 1-5.
Not only did East Carolina and Charlotte lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Looking ahead to Saturday, East Carolina is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by seven points. Charlotte might be worth a quick bet since they've sitting on a three game streak of covering the spread when playing on the road.
