Liberty vs. Sam Houston updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Thursday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Liberty vs. Sam Houston football game
After two games on the road, Liberty is heading back home. They will take on the Sam Houston Bearkats at 7:00 p.m. ET on Thursday. Sam Houston is crawling into this match hobbled by six consecutive losses, while Liberty will bounce in with back-to-back wins.
Last Saturday, Liberty was fully in charge, breezing past FIU 38-6 on the road.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quinton Cooley, who rushed for 102 yards on only 12 carries. Those 102 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Cooley. Liberty also got help from Treon Sibley who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Sam Houston fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Jacksonville State on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gamecocks. The loss hurts even more since Sam Houston was up 21-7 in the second quarter.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Sam Houston's win pushed their record up to 0-4, while their defeat dropped theirs down to 0-4.
Looking ahead, Liberty is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 19 points. They might be worth a quick bet since they've covered the spread the last four times they've played Sam Houston.
