The South Alabama Jaguars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took their contest against the Georgia Southern Eagles by a conclusive 41-14 score. The oddsmakers were on the Jaguars' side, but they didn't give the squad enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide.
QB Jake Bentley had a stellar game for South Alabama as he passed for three TDs and 388 yards on 31 attempts in addition to punching in two rushing touchdowns. WR Jalen Wayne also helped out with an impressive 117 receiving yards in the win.
Georgia Southern's only offensive touchdown came from RB J.D. King.
The victory bumped South Alabama's record up to 4-2. Georgia Southern's overall record fell to 2-5.
South Alabama will square off against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at 7 p.m. ET next week at JPS Field at James L. Malone Stadium. The Eagles can take some time to mend their wounds since their next matchup isn't for a while. They will face the Georgia State Panthers at Allen E. Paulson Stadium at 6 p.m. ET in two weeks.
