Eagles' Elijah Cooks: Inks future deal with Philadelphia
The Eagles signed Cooks to a reserve/future contract Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Cooks signed with the Eagles' practice squad Jan. 14 after spending most of the 2024 season on the Jaguars' practice squad. The 26-year-old wideout will be on Philadelphia's 90-man roster for the start of the new league year, which gives him the opportunity to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp.

Elijah Cooks: Let go by Philadelphia
The Eagles cut Cooks from the practice squad Tuesday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Cooks was signed to the Eagles' practice squad Jan. 14 in order to play the role of Puka Nacua leading up to this past Sunday's NFC divisional-round clash against the Rams, per Andrew DiCecco of InsideTheBirds.com. Prior to his stint with the Eagles, Cooks spent most of the 2024 regular season on the Jaguars' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.

The Eagles signed Cooks to their practice squad Tuesday.
Cooks spent most of the season with Jacksonville's practice squad and got elevated twice, compiling 10 offensive snaps and four special-teams snaps without recording any other stats during the two contests. He'll now provide Philadelphia with wide-receiver depth as part of the organization's practice squad. In related moves, the Eagles signed wideout Parris Campbell from their practice squad to their active roster and cut receiver Joseph Ngata from their practice squad.

Cooks didn't record any stats while playing seven snaps on offense and four snaps on special teams in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Texans. The wide receiver can be elevated one more time before Jacksonville would have to officially sign him to the active roster.

Cooks was previously elevated for Week 9, but he played only three offensive snaps and didn't record any stats against the Eagles. Cooks and fellow practice squad wideout Austin Trammell were each elevated for Week 9 for the first time of the 2024 regular season. While Trammell saw 33 snaps on offense, Cooks had just three and did not record a stat. With Christian Kirk (collarbone) out for the rest of the year, Cooks and Trammell could both be elevated for Week 10 against the Vikings, especially if Gabe Davis (shoulder) remains sidelined.

Cooks is in line to make his regular-season debut Sunday after spending half of the campaign on the practice squad. Cooks and Austin Trammell could see snaps on offensive against the Eagles on Sunday if Brian Thomas (chest) and/or Gabe Davis (shoulder) are unable to play. The Jaguars signed Cooks to their practice squad Wednesday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
The San Jose State product didn't make the cut for Jacksonville's initial 53-man roster, but he's found a spot on the practice squad. Cooks appeared in nine games for the Jaguars in 2023, hauling in three of his four targets for 38 yards and no touchdowns while playing 147 total snaps (105 offensive and 42 on special teams).

The rookie UDFA played in nine games but was only active in the passing game once, as all three of his catches came during Week 13 at Tampa Bay. Cooks is likely to fill a similar depth role with the Jaguars in 2024, assuming he retains his roster spot.

The rookie UDFA played a season-high 25 offensive snaps but didn't receive a look from backup quarterback C.J. Beathard. Cooks had the first catches of his career Week 16 with three receptions for 38 yards, but his role in the offense is inconsistent at best, even with Zay Jones' (hamstring) availability up in the air.

Cooks caught all three of his targets for 38 yards during Sunday's 30-12 loss to Tampa Bay.
Cooks played just 14 offensive snaps but averaged 4.22 yards per route, per John Shipley of SI.com. The rookie UDFA played significantly fewer snaps than fellow wideouts Parker Washington, Jamal Agnew and Tim Jones but found more success in the offense. With Christian Kirk (groin) on injured reserve and Zay Jones' (hamstring) availability still up in the air, Cooks could be more involved for the final two weeks of the regular season.
