Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Feels back in top form
Mitchell has been a standout at Baltimore's voluntary OTAs and said Monday that he feels fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered as a rookie in 2023, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.
The 23-year-old is showing some of the burst he displayed before the injury, when across eight regular-season games in 2023 he rushed 47 times for 396 yards and two scores, for a tremendous 8.4 YPC. The following season, Mitchell's debut was delayed until Week 10 due to his rehab, and across five regular-season appearances he was held to just 2.0 YPC. Now entering Year 3, he not only feels 100 percent healthy, but he indicated that he's set personal records in all of his speed tracking analytics this offseason. Even so, Mitchell will face tough competition for change-of-pace reps in the Ravens backfield. Derrick Henry remains entrenched as Baltimore's workhorse and inked a two-year extension this offseason, while Justice Hill did well as a pass-catching specialist in 2024.

Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Incomplete grade in Year 2
Mitchell finished the season with 15 carries for 30 yards and one reception on one target for 28 yards across five regular-season games.
The second-year running back missed the season's first nine games while recovering from the significant knee injury that ended his promising rookie campaign. Even though Mitchell was active in Weeks 10-12, he did not receive an offensive touch in those games. He was then inactive for three games before somewhat getting in the mix in the final two weeks with 15 combined carries. The 2.0 YPC was a far cry from the 8.4 figure he established on 47 carries last season. If Justice Hill returns during the postseason, Mitchell will likely settle into a small change-of-pace role in the offense while also serving as a kick returner. In dynasty formats, it would be hasty to cut bait on a player like Mitchell simply because of a difficult year. His impressive rookie season and the injury caveat this year should still keep him on the radar for 2025 and beyond, even with Derrick Henry under contract for another year.

Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Tears off long kick return Saturday
Mitchell took four carries for 10 yards and returned a kick for 47 yards during Saturday's 35-10 win versus the Browns.
Mitchell played just 14 of Baltimore's 67 offensive snaps in Week 18, a similar role to what he saw in Week 17 at Houston after being inactive the three games prior. However, his biggest contribution to Saturday's win actually came on special teams, as he took a second-quarter kickoff all the way out to Cleveland's 48-yard line. He figures to play only sparingly in the wild-card round versus the Steelers as long as Derrick Henry is at full strength.

Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Gets involved vs. Texans
Mitchell had 11 carries for 20 yards and added a 28-yard reception in Wednesday's win against the Texans.
The rushing output wasn't spectacular, but the rushing volume was noteworthy for Mitchell. They marked his first carries since suffering a season-ending knee injury as a rookie in 2023. He had made three appearances prior to Wednesday but had yet to receive a touch. Mitchell showed off the speed and elusiveness that got people's attention last year when he scooted upfield for a 28-yard gain on his lone reception. Derrick Henry remains the king of the Baltimore backfield and Justice Hill will still have a role once he's able to return, but Mitchell could be an x-factor down the stretch.

Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Will play against Houston
Mitchell is active for Wednesday's game against the Texans, Clifford Brown of the Ravens' official site reports.
Mitchell has been a healthy inactive for the Ravens' last three games, but he will suit up Christmas Day due to Justice Hill being ruled out with a concussion. Baltimore has opted for rookie fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali to serve as the third-string running back behind Derrick Henry and Hill over its last three games, so Ali could settle into the No. 2 role ahead of Mitchell on Wednesday. Mitchell is also likely to be involved on special teams as a kickoff returner.
