Jets vs. Bills updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday

The Buffalo Bills won both of their matches against the New York Jets last season (27-17 and 18-10) and are aiming for the same result on Sunday. The Bills and New York will face off in an AFC East battle at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium. Buffalo won't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy a 12-point advantage in the spread.

It was all tied up 6-6 at halftime, but Buffalo was not quite the Jacksonville Jaguars' equal in the second half when they met last week. It was close but no cigar for Buffalo as they fell 9-6 to Jacksonville. What made the loss an especially bitter pill for Buffalo to swallow was that they had been favored by 14.5 points coming into the contest. One thing holding the Bills back was the mediocre play of QB Josh Allen, who did not have his best game: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball once with only 5.62 yards per passing attempt.

Meanwhile, the Jets lost to the Indianapolis Colts on the road by a decisive 45-30 margin. New York was down 42-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Their defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of QB Josh Johnson, who passed for three TDs and 317 yards on 41 attempts, and WR Elijah Moore, who caught seven passes for two TDs and 84 yards. Johnson hadn't helped his team much against the Cincinnati Bengals two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

This next game looks promising for the Bills, who are favored by a full 12 points. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

The losses put Buffalo at 5-3 and the Jets at 2-6. A couple defensive stats to keep an eye on: Buffalo enters the matchup with only 11 touchdowns allowed, which is the best in the league. Less enviably, New York is stumbling into the game with the most yards allowed per game in the NFL, having given up 408.1 on average. So the cards are definitely stacked against New York.
