  • Giants' Darnell Mooney: Set to join Giants

Mooney is slated to sign a one-year, $10 million contract with the Giants, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Mooney entered free agency after he was released by the Falcons on Monday, and it didn't take him long to find a new home with the Giants. He entered the 2025 season with high expectations following a productive 2024 campaign with the Falcons, when he caught 64 passes (on 106 targets) for 992 yards and five touchdowns across 16 regular-season games. Mooney failed to catch more than four passes in each of his 15 regular-season games in 2025 and finished with a 32-443-1 receiving line (on 72 targets). He figures to slide in as the Giants' WR3 behind Malik Nabers (knee) and Darius Slayton for the upcoming season.

  • Darnell Mooney: Released by Atlanta

The Falcons released Mooney on Monday.

The move has been expected, though earlier reports suggested it might not happen for a few more days. Mooney figures to draw interest from teams that miss out on the top free agents at wide receiver.

  • Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Set to be released

The Falcons are planning to release Mooney when the new league year begins March 11, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Mooney had just 32 catches for 443 yards and one touchdown in 15 appearances during a disappointing 2025 season. Releasing the 28-year-old wide receiver prior to the final year of his three-year, $39 million contract will save the Falcons $7.4 million in cap space. Mooney had 992 receiving yards over 16 games with Atlanta in the 2024, so he's likely to garner some interest once he hits the open market.

  • Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Quiet end to disappointing season

Mooney caught three of seven targets for 20 yards in the Falcons' Week 18 win over the Saints.

Mooney suffered a shoulder injury during training camp, and his season never got off the ground following his Week 2 debut. After posting a 64-992-5 receiving line on 106 targets last season, Mooney's numbers took a big hit across the board, as he finished 2025 with 32 catches for 443 yards and one touchdown across 15 appearances. Mooney is under contract through 2026 on an inflated $10.97 million salary. The Falcons are likely to clean house somewhat after firing both GM Terry Fontenot and head coach Raheem Morris following Sunday's win over New Orleans. Mooney will turn 29 years old next fall.

  • Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Cleared to play Sunday

Mooney (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Saints, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Mooney has received the green light to play in the season finale after he was listed as questionable heading into Sunday following a trio of limited practices during the week. Though the Atlanta coaching staff hasn't specifically mentioned that Mooney will be on a restricted snap count Sunday, fantasy managers should be cognizant that the wideout could face more playing-time risk than usual since the 7-9 Falcons are eliminated from playoff contention and have little at stake in Week 18. Like Mooney, starting receiver Drake London (knee) and tight end Kyle Pitts (knee) were also listed as questionable following Friday's practice but will be available to play in some capacity.

  • Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Questionable but likely to play

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said Friday that Mooney (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's season finale against the Saints but is expected to suit up, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

Mooney popped up as a limited participant on Thursday's practice report, but it looks like he's trending in the right direction to face New Orleans on Sunday. Morris said top wideout Drake London (knee) and tight end Kyle Pitts (knee) are both also listed as questionable but expected to play Week 18. Mooney has only exceeded 50 receiving yards or scored once across his last 10 regular-season appearances, having managed both feats when he secured all three of his targets for 74 yards and a score versus the Saints in Week 12. If he's cleared to play Sunday, he'll work to improve his lackluster production totals in a rematch against a division rival.

  • Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Dealing with knee injury

Mooney (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

The knee injury appears to be a new issue for Mooney, given that he was not listed on Wednesday's practice report. His participation in Friday's practice will determine whether he enters Sunday's regular-season finale against the Saints with an injury designation. If Mooney is unable to play, then David Sills, Dylan Drummond and Deven Thompkins would be in line for more offensive snaps in Week 18.

  • Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Logs two catches vs. LAR

Mooney caught two passes on three targets for 35 yards during the Falcons' 27-24 win over the Rams on Monday.

Mooney made a crucial 13-yard grab on third down to extend a drive that ultimately ended with a four-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins to Bijan Robinson. Mooney added a 22-yard catch late in the third quarter but was not targeted by Cousins again, resulting in a two-catch performance for a second consecutive week. Mooney has caught three passes or fewer in 13 of 14 regular-season games and has seen five targets or more in just six of those contests. The sixth-year wideout will take a 29-423-1 receiving line on 65 targets into Sunday's regular-season finale against the Saints.

  • Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Records two catches in win

Mooney caught both of his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 26-19 win over the Cardinals.

Mooney played 54 of the Falcons' 77 offensive snaps Sunday, the most of any Atlanta wide receiver in the contest. Despite leading the the receiving corps in snaps, the veteran wideout continued his streak of underwhelming performances. In 13 appearances, Mooney has recorded just 27 catches for 388 yards and a touchdown. The 28-year-old will remain difficult to trust for significant fantasy production heading into a Week 17 matchup against the Rams.
