Top Canadiens News

  • Canadiens' Kaiden Guhle: Chips in with helper

Guhle logged an assist, 11 hits and two blocked shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Lightning in Game 4.

Guhle picked up his first career playoff point when he set up a Zachary Bolduc tally in the second period. The 24-year-old took some games off late in the regular season for maintenance, but he's handled a top-four role, including some heavier minutes due to the first three games of this series going to overtime. In four contests against the Lightning, Guhle has added four shots on net, 21 hits, nine blocked shots, six PIM and a minus-3 rating.

  • Canadiens' Zachary Bolduc: Opens scoring in loss

Bolduc scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Lightning in Game 4.

Bolduc opened the scoring midway through the second period. The 23-year-old has collected three points, seven shots on net, nine hits and a plus-4 rating over four playoff contests despite primarily playing in a bottom-six role. The Canadiens will need their depth players to bolster the top line if they're going to keep pace with an experienced Lightning roster. Bolduc is in the playoffs for the second time in his career -- he earned one assist over seven outings with the Blues in the 2025 postseason.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Breaks through with power-play goal

Caufield scored a power-play goal on two shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Lightning in Game 4.

The tally was Caufield's first of the postseason. He's added three assists, six shots on net, eight hits and a minus-5 rating over four playoff contests this year, as all of his offense has come with the man advantage. The winger is in his third playoff run, having earned 16 points across 25 outings in his previous two experiences in the postseason.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Takes regulation loss Sunday

Dobes allowed three goals on 20 shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Lightning in Game 4.

Dobes wasn't able to fend off the Lightning's comeback effort, as Jake Guentzel scored late in the second period and Brandon Hagel tallied twice in the third. This was the first game decided in regulation in this first-round series. Dobes has allowed 11 goals on 94 shots (.883 save percentage) so far against the Lightning. He's been backed up by Jacob Fowler, but it's unclear if the Canadiens are considering a change between the pipes yet. Game 5 is on the road in Tampa on Wednesday.

  • Canadiens' David Reinbacher: Sent to minors

Reinbacher was loaned to AHL Laval on Sunday.

Reinbacher made his first two NHL appearances at the end of the 2025-26 regular season, but he was a healthy scratch for each of the Canadiens' first four games in their first-round series against the Lightning. The Rocket earned a first-round bye in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs and will take on the Marlies in Game 1 on Wednesday. Unless Reinbacher receives another call-up before then, the right-shot blueliner will play a major role with the minor-league club going forward.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Set to start in Game 4

Dobes will patrol the home blue paint Sunday against the Lightning in Game 4, according to Eric Engels of Sportsnet.

Dobes and the Canadiens can take a commanding 3-1 series lead Sunday if they earn a win in their second home game of the 2026 postseason. The 24-year-old Dobes hasn't allowed more than three goals in a game during this series, going 2-1-0 with a 2.45 GAA and an .892 save percentage over three outings. The Lightning are making a few changes for Game 4, as Oliver Bjorkstrand and Max Crozier will draw into the lineup, while Scott Sabourin and Declan Carlile will serve as healthy scratches.

  • Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Nets game-winner in overtime

Hutson scored the game-winning goal, fired two shots on net, added three hits and blocked four shots in Friday's 3-2 overtime win over the Lightning in Game 3.

Hutson tallied on a blast from the point just 2:09 into the extra session to give the Canadiens the win and a 2-1 series lead. The 22-year-old defenseman has earned two goals, one assist, 10 shots on net, seven blocked shots and three hits over three playoff outings so far. The Canadiens will continue to lean heavily on their top blueliners, so expect Hutson to see lofty ice-time totals.

  • Canadiens' Alexandre Texier: Two points in OT win over Bolts

Texier scored a goal and added an assist Friday during the Canadiens' 3-2 overtime win over the Lightning in Game 3 of their first-round series.

Texier opened the scoring early in the first period before picking up the primary helper on Lane Hutson's game-winner. The points were Texier's first of the postseason, matching his production from his final 12 regular-season contests. He also has nine hits and four shots on goal through three outings this playoffs.

  • Canadiens' Zachary Bolduc: Two helpers in Game 3 win

Bolduc notched two assists Friday during the Canadiens' 3-2 overtime win over the Lightning in Game 3 of their first-round series.

Bolduc picked up his first points of the playoffs by helping set up Alexandre Texier's first-period tally and Lane Hutson's game-winner in overtime. Montreal's third line of Bolduc, Texier and Kirby Dach combined for two goals and six points in Friday's win. Bolduc has gotten onto the scoresheet only three times in his last 20 games, so Friday's performance may not spark an offensive surge.

  • Canadiens' Kirby Dach: Two-point effort in OT win

Dach produced a goal and an assist Friday during the Canadiens' 3-2 overtime win over the Lightning in Game 3 of their first-round series.

After assisting on an Alexandre Texier tally in the first period, Dach tied the game at 2-2 midway through the second. Montreal's third line did the heavy lifting in this one, with the unit of Dach, Texier and Zachary Bolduc combining for two goals and six points. Dach's points were his first of the series. He's unlikely to emerge as an offensive threat after managing eight goals and 15 points over 37 games during an injury-plagued 2025-26 regular season.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Comes away with OT win in Game 3

Dobes stopped 15 shots Friday during the Canadiens' 3-2 overtime win over the Lightning in Game 3 of their first-round series.

The Bolts grabbed a 2-1 lead early in the second period, but Dobes shut the door the rest of the way, getting a big assist from a Habs defense that allowed only four shots on net after the second intermission. The 24-year-old netminder sports a 2.45 GAA and .892 save percentage to begin a series that has seen all three games go to OT, and he'll look to give Montreal a commanding 3-1 lead in Game 4 on Sunday.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Tending twine in Game 3

Dobes will protect the home goal versus the Lightning on Friday in Game 3, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.

Dobes has claimed the No. 1 job for the Canadiens to begin the postseason. He helped them earn a split over the first two games of the series, stopping 51 of 57 shots in those games. Dobes will now try to feed off the energy of the home crowd in Montreal for the next couple of contests.

  • Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Yet another clutch goal

Anderson scored a goal Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Lightning in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round.

Two playoff games. Two playoff goals. Anderson is the epitome of a playoff warrior. His goal put the Habs up 2-1 at 18:36 of the second period. Anderson will be feeling sore Wednesday after being jumped from behind by Brandon Hagel in the first and being run over by Scott Sabourin late in the third. Anderson was skating backwards in front of the benches when Sabourin hammered him blind from behind. Anderson was down for a few minutes before skating off the ice under his own power. He will have an extra day to work out the kinks -- the Habs and Bolts next face-off Friday.

  • Canadiens' Lane Hutson: First career NHL playoff goal

Hutson scored a power-play goal Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime to the Lightning in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round.

It was his first career NHL playoff goal, but it won't be the talented defender's last. Hutson scored with a one-timer from the point that somehow went through traffic and under Andrei Vasilevskiy's blocker arm. Hutson has a goal, assist and eight shots, including six Tuesday, in two postseason games.
