Angels' Jo Adell: Launches long ball Saturday
Adell went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Royals.
Adell accounted for the only Angels run with a solo shot to center field in the fourth inning. The homer also extended the outfielder's streak of producing an RBI to three games. Adell isn't on pace to approach the career-high 37 long balls he hit last season, as he's gone deep a modest four times through 28 contests this year. However, he's shown improvement in other areas, as his .265 batting average is on pace to be a career-best mark, and his 19.8 percent strikeout rate would easily be the lowest of his career.

Angels' Walbert Urena: Poor outing Saturday
Urena (0-3) took the loss Saturday against the Royals after allowing four runs on six hits and five walks across 3.2 innings. He struck out three.
Urena looked impressive in his first start of the season against the Padres on April 19 after tossing six-plus innings of two-run ball with eight strikeouts, but he couldn't repeat that outing here. This time, Urena failed to consistently find the strike zone, as he tossed just 44 of his 81 pitches for strikes and was lifted before completing four innings. It remains to be seen if Urena will get another turn in the rotation, but this outing increased his ERA to 4.76. If Urena gets another start, he'd be tentatively lined up to face the Mets at home next weekend.

Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Exits game with wrist irritation
O'Hoppe was removed from Saturday's game against the Royals due to left wrist irritation.
While playing defense in the bottom of the seventh, O'Hoppe took a foul ball directly off his exposed left wrist on his catching hand and was in obvious pain. Prior to leaving, O'Hoppe went 0-for-3 at the plate. Travis d'Arnaud has replaced him behind the plate.

Angels' Walbert Urena: Drawing another start
Urena is slated to start Saturday's game against the Royals in Kansas City, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Summoned from Triple-A Salt Lake last weekend to make his first MLB start, Urena spun a gem for the Halos, striking out eight and allowing two runs on four hits and two walks across six innings in a losing effort against the Padres. He'll be awarded another turn through the rotation on the heels of that strong outing, but Urena's stay with the big club could come to an end as soon as Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) is ready to return from the injured list, likely at some point in May.

Angels' Vaughn Grissom: Pair of doubles in loss
Grissom went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Royals.
Activated from the injured list two weeks ago, Grissom knocked a pair of doubles off left-hander Noah Cameron for his first two extra-base hits of the 2026 campaign. Through his first 32 plate appearances of the season, Grissom is slashing .292/.419/.375 with three RBI, four runs scored and a 6:2 BB:K.

Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: ERA swells to 6.21 in loss Friday
Kikuchi (0-3) took the loss Friday against the Royals, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts across five innings.
It's been a struggle for Kikuchi early on this season, as he's allowed at least four earned runs in four of his last five starts and has gone six innings just once in six tries to begin the campaign. The left-hander is still winless but has at least been able to generate strikeouts with a 32:13 K:BB across 29 innings. He's also allowed just three home runs after serving up 24 last season. Kikuchi's 3.72 FIP suggests he's pitched better than his 6.21 ERA would suggest.

Angels' Mike Trout: Homers, swipes bag Wednesday
Trout went 1-for-3 with a home run, an additional run, two walks and a stolen base in a 7-3 win against Toronto on Wednesday.
Trout provided a big boost to the Angels offense and a nice line for fantasy managers with a fifth-inning homer and a seventh-inning stolen base. The veteran outfielder extended his on-base streak to 13 games, and he's slashing .283/.450/.739 with six homers, 14 RBI, 16 runs, two thefts and a 14:8 BB:K during that span. With eight homers and four steals through 25 contests, Trout is providing ample value for fantasy managers who took him in drafts with the hope that he could stay healthy.

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Homers, drives in four
Schanuel went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, an additional run scored and four total RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Schanuel led off the fourth inning with his third home run of the season before putting the Angels ahead for good in the seventh with a two-out, three-run double. The first baseman has gone 8-for-22 (.364) with seven RBI and four runs over his last six games. Overall, Schanuel is slashing .239/.308/.380 with 18 RBI and eight runs scored across 104 plate appearances this season.

Angels' Alek Manoah: Getting close to rehab stint
Manoah (finger) tossed four simulated innings to hitters Tuesday and is nearing a minor-league rehab assignment, per MLB.com.
Manoah's right middle fingernail fell off after a spring start in mid-March, and he began throwing bullpens in early April. He's since progressed to facing hitters and could kick off a rehab stint within the next week. Manoah struggled mightily during the Cactus League slate, so he may need to pitch well during his rehab assignment to get a chance to start with the big-league club in the near future.

Angels' Ryan Johnson: Nearing bullpen session
Johnson (hamstring/illness) has resumed playing catch and is close to throwing a bullpen session, per MLB.com.
Johnson landed on the 15-day injured list April 6 due to a viral infection. He then made a start in extended spring training April 13 but was removed due to a hamstring injury after throwing just two pitches. Johnson seems to be doing better, and resuming throwing bullpens will be a significant step toward a return to game action. He could be ready to be activated off the IL in late April or early May.

Angels' Kirby Yates: Rehab transferred to Triple-A
Yates (knee) is moving his rehab assignment from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga to Triple-A Salt Lake, per MLB.com.
Yates pitched in one game for Rancho Cucamonga, allowing a run on one hit and one walk while striking out two batters over one inning. He's scheduled to throw for Salt Lake Wednesday and Friday. If those outings go well, Yates could be activated from the IL before the end of April.

Angels' Jose Soriano: Extends scoreless run
Soriano did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Blue Jays, allowing seven hits and no walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out four.
While Soriano failed to come away with a win for the first time in a start this season, the right-hander kept the Blue Jays off the board to lower his ERA to a minuscule 0.24. Through his first six starts, Soriano has given up just one run over 37.2 innings while posting a 0.82 WHIP with 43 strikeouts, the second most in the majors. Soriano will look to keep it rolling in his next outing, currently slated to come on the road against the White Sox next week.

Angels' Josh Lowe: Idle against LHP once again
Lowe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
The left-handed-hitting Lowe will be held out of the starting nine for the second straight day while the Angels face off against another left-handed starting pitcher (Eric Lauer). In Lowe's absence, Bryce Teodosio will pick up another start in the outfield, this time covering center while Mike Trout occupies the designated-hitter spot.

Angels' Adam Frazier: Out vs. LHP in second straight game
Frazier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
After a stretch of four consecutive starts -- all against right-handed pitching -- Frazier will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Angels face another left-handed starter (Eric Lauer). Vaughn Grissom will receive the nod at second base Wednesday while the Angels continue to take a committee approach to the keystone.
